Liner Notes

There was a time when I thought this song would be an international success.

It wasn’t.

I can see why now, but back in 2007 I was convinced that what the world was waiting for was loud guitars and 4 part harmonies produced in some dirtbag’s bedroom on a Dell Home Computer.

“Myopic” was written directly after I finished and released This Faustian Flesh. It was supposed to both herald a new era of All Hallow’s Evil and justify the purchase of the PODXt Live I decided to throw onto my pile of credit card debt. I was trying to make a new genre called ProgPopMetal and well, you see where that got me.

I think it’s a really good song, but the final version didn’t quite live up to it’s potential. I could easily blame the equipment or the free pitch correction plugin I used that had that old Dell screaming for mercy on those harmonies or even my grandfather, who sat at the table “producing” while I recorded in his kitchen because I lost my apartment. In the final analysis though, it all comes down to me not being quite as talented as I needed to be at the time.

Which brings us to the present.

Where once a full Dell desktop buckled under the weight of the 20 or so vocal tracks that make up the chorus, my MacBook handled the entire project without even turning the fans on. Throw that in with 15 years of practice and I’m not sure I got it right, but I got it different. I may no longer think this song is my ticket out of here, but it was fun to visit that guy for a while.
